Prom

Lem, Sycely and I attended Dimond’s prom this year. Sycely had the special honor of being a crown bearer and presenting the crown to the prom Queen so Lem and I, as always, saw it as an opportunity to get all fancy and have a date :) We got dressed in our finest duds and went to dinner. It was super fun seeing all the high schoolers out at a fancy dinner in their prom attire-hard to believe it was 11 years ago that Lem and I were doing that same thing.

After dinner we headed home to pick up Sycely. Lem had gotten her and I corsages and she was just tickled to have a special flower from Daddy to wear with her fancy dress. She actually wore one of the flower girl dresses from OUR wedding so she felt extra, extra special! We took her to Red Robin for some dessert and then headed over to prom.

We had our pictures taken (by Fitzgerald photography-my pageant photo sponsors) while waiting for the crowning. Like everything else, she was ultra-precise about her job as a crown bearer. Her and Gavin (Jim Anderson’s son) were super cute all lined up on the red carpet (the prom theme this year was Hollywood) ready to lead the prom court in. They kind of looked like a miniature bride and groom up there on the stage in her white lacy gown and his tiny little tux…maybe some day…you never know.

Sycely got to dance with her Daddy and it was about the most precious moment ever. I couldn’t help thinking about her wedding day and remembering this moment during the father-daughter dance that day. Sycely was up way past her bedtime and she was getting pretty tired so we headed home and got her tucked into bed. She still talks about all the fun she had at her “first prom.”
