Man Alive- Sycely's 5!

Most of the prepping for Sycely's birthday party happened before we went to Vegas, but there were a few details to finish up before party time. We kicked off her birthday with a pancake breakfast and spent the morning doing some other fun things. We amde some coffee filter butterflies to hang up at the party. We also dyed some miniature bowtie (buttefly) pasta a whole bunch of colors to be used in a butterfly pasta salad at her party.

After Lem got done with Tennis practice, Sycely opened some presents from us and we took the girls to Chuck E Cheese's (her pick for her birthday activity.) Believe it or not, it really was very un-miserable and it actually was a pretty fun for the whole fam. We played some ski-ball, did some kiddy rides and scored a bunch of tickets playing games. One favorite was a virtual horse racing ride/game where you ride and stear a horse while a screen shows you a moving race track you're supposed to race on. We had some pizza and cashed in our tickets for some prizes and headed to Nanny and Papas.

Since Nanny and Papa weren't here on Ella's birthday, we did a joint present opening session for her and Sycely both on Sycely's birthday. Sycely was totally stoked to get the Olivia playset she had spied at Toys R Us and to top that, Nanny got the girls an easel, complete with magnet letters, dry erase markers, chalk and way cool eraser mits.

Sycely's birthday party was on Saturday (her birthday was on Thursday) and she was joined by lots of little friends (the Bracketts, Barths, Gibsons and her friend Angela) as well as Nanny and Papa for her butterfly party. Last year, the day after her birthday, she told me she wanted to have a butterfly birthday when she turned 5, and she's stuck with that ALL year, never wavering...so, butterflies it was. We had the added bonus of 100 helium balloons left over from Nanny's last day at Dimond the day before-the kids thought those were a total hoot! Everyone got to choose and apply a butterfly glittery tattoo and the kiddos decorated cupcakes.

I made a fashionable butterfly cake-pink and purple, as requested and we served that up to our guests before opening presents.

Another successful birthday bash :)
